Summer Bishil was born in New York City. Her most well-known role is her role as Margo Hanson, in Syfy's fantasy drama The Magicians. The Alan Ball movie Towelhead, she played 13-year-old Lebanese American teenager Jasira who experiences a whirlwind of emotions in the context of the U.S. intervention in Iraq in the Gulf War. In the following year, she was chosen as one of Variety's 10 Actors to Watch for 2007. The 2009 movie Crossing Over, in which she portrayed the powerful role of Taslima Jhangir she was nominated by the Independent Spirit Award as the leading female in the film.
